Greetings from Dundee: Places and Memories

Greetings from Dundee are free workshops that offer therapeutic exploration of place through colour and conversation. They are aimed at local community groups and organisations who support older adults in the community, either with degenerative conditions or those at risk of social isolation. All materials are provided. All we require is a space in which to deliver the workshop.

“During the early twentieth century, all photographs and negatives produced for Valentines were black and white… the ‘Art Series’ introduced colour… The same image could be used repeatedly and tinted during the printing process in various ways by hand…”

These workshops are inspired by the many hand tinted images from the Valentines archive to stimulate discussion about Dundee’s changing cityscape and explore personal memoires of individuals’ recollections of place.

The workshops include a short screening of an oral history film by Rob Kennedy, which is also on display within the exhibition at V&A Dundee.
