What is the Scottish Digital Clubbing Archive?

The Scottish Digital Clubbing Archive is an online project to gather stories, memories and images of Scotland’s club scene. It brings together a record of Scotland’s club culture, as told by the people who were there.

Where and when will I be able to see the archive?

The archive is live now here.
We stopped adding new content when the Night Fever: Designing Club Culture exhibition ended in January 2022.

What happens to the information I submit?
We handle all your information in line with our Privacy Policy.
When you submit a story, piece of information, photo or video, the V&A Dundee Digital team will first gather and save all the info. We will then read and select content to include in the archive. We may edit stories down to make them shorter, or group them together with other stories or images.

Where will my information be used and published?
We add selected content to our website. We may also publish selected content using 3rd party services (such as a mapping tool), and on our social media platforms – Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Will you use everything that is sent in?
Not everything that gets sent in will be included. If we have lots of stories from the same club or era, we may only use a few. Any content that is inappropriate for a general audience won’t be included (as all age-groups can access the website).

Will you own my photos and videos if I send them in?
You will still own any photos or videos that you share with us. By submitting, you grant us permission to use your content for the Scottish Digital Clubbing Archive, and any related promotional activities (like sharing on social media), but it still belongs to you.

I don’t own a photo/video – can I still send it in?
Please only submit photos and videos that you own, and ensure that you have the permission of anybody featured.
If you know of an image or video (e.g. you have seen it on a website or in a newspaper) that you think we should include, please let us know and we can look into sourcing it; please email us at everyoneintheclub@vandadundee.org with the subject ‘PHOTO/VIDEO SUGGESTION’.

Can I share content another way?
You can share your stories and images via your own social media using the hashtags #VADNightFever and #EveryoneInTheClub.
We won't use anything you have shared without asking your permission first.

Will you include my name?
Only if you want us to! If you would like us to include your name alongside any submission, please add it when submitting the form. If you would prefer to remain anonymous, please state this when you submit the form, and/or don’t add your name.

Can I remove something that I’ve sent in?
If you have submitted a story, photo or video and would rather we didn’t include it, please email us at everyoneintheclub@vandadundee.org with the subject ‘REMOVE MY CONTENT’ and as much detail as possible about what you would like to be removed.

Why do you want my contact details and what will you do with them?
We ask for your details in case we need to contact you about using any of the information or material you have submitted. We will only use your contact details for the Scottish Digital Clubbing Archive, and not for any other purpose.
We will store your information securely and will delete it at the end of the project. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy.
You can request that we delete your details at any time; please email us at everyoneintheclub@vandadundee.org with the subject ‘REMOVE MY DETAILS’.

Thank you!
