drop-in
Plastic Lab
Plastic is everywhere. Drop-in and help redesign our relationship with this innovative but contested material.
Plastic Lab invites you to explore the promise and problem of plastic. Housing Precious Plastic recycling machines and hosting a dynamic programme of drop-in events, this free interactive space encourages visitors of all ages to learn, question, challenge, and act on some of the most important issues relating to plastic today. Join us to consider what we as individuals, and as a society, can do to tackle our overreliance on this wonder material?
Hear from contemporary designers, researchers and makers and learn about innovative new material alternatives in pop-up talks. Explore more with board games, identify different types of plastic, and learn how to recycle them at our waste sorting station.
Investigate questions like: What is plastic? Where does it come from? When is plastic a good design choice and when is it not? What are the problems with recycling? What is circular design? How can plastic production and consumption be reduced?
Most importantly – you can get involved, have fun and think up new ways to redesign our relationship with plastic, so we can tackle the problem of plastic pollution together, one step at a time.
Pop-up talks will be listed on our What’s On page.
Plastic: Remaking Our World is the first exhibition co-produced by V&A Dundee, Vitra Design Museum, and maat, Lisbon with curators from V&A South Kensington.
