Sensory Friendly Day

A more relaxed way to enjoy the museum

Come along to our Sensory Friendly Day and visit the museum free from large crowds. This event is suitable for anyone who needs a quieter environment to get the most out of their visit (such as people with autism spectrum conditions, sensory processing differences or PMLD). Use our multi-sensory backpacks to get the most out our your visit.

What you can expect -

Wherever possible, small changes will be made to reduce anxiety and stress, such as adjusting volume levels in the galleries. In addition, there will be no queues or planned public address announcements and additional staff will be on-hand for support.

What you can do -

Explore the Scottish Design Galleries, visit our latest major exhibition Night Fever and relax in the quiet areas if you need to take a break.

What you need to know -

Tickets are free. In addition to exclusive access to the museum, admission to Night Fever is included. Please book one ticket per person attending. The museum's restaurant will be closed, however drinks and snacks can be purchased from the cart in the lower hall. You are also welcome to bring you own food if you prefer.
