Game Design Jam: Operas and Bridges
Have a go at creating new forms of interactive play over a weekend of hacking and making
V&A Dundee and Abertay University invite you to get involved in a weekend of interactive creativity, at the Operas and Bridges Game Jam!
When V&A Curator Marie Foulston, was developing the exhibition Videogames: Design/Play/Disrupt, she was inspired by a quote from a Frank Lantz (Director, NYU Game Center) who said, “Making a game combines everything that’s hard about building a bridge with everything that’s hard about composing an opera. Games are basically operas made out of bridges.”
This quote beautifully encapsulates the complexity and creativity that is present in this fascinating design discipline - and we would like to challenge YOU to put your skills and imagination to the test at this very unique Game Jam.
We invite artists, sound designers, game designers and programmers to team up and immerse themselves in this creative environment, taking inspiration from the exhibition and museum collections to create some interactive play.
The Jam is a three day event, booking for Friday 6 September automatically confirms your attendance across all three days of the Jam. Share your ideas and progress throughout the jam using #VA_ Abertay _JAM. On Sunday 8 September, jammers will have the opportunity to share their work.
Please note that all participants are required to bring their own laptop/computer/device to work on.
