Material Preference for Prosthetics

What does the future of prosthetics hold for people living with limb difference?

Join designer, researcher and prosthetic wearer Caitlin McMullan and Prosthetics and Orthotics student, Euan Ogilvie, as they discuss Caitlin's research and the opportunities offered by contemporary prosthetics and possibilities for the future.

Caitlin McMullan is a researcher in Material Preference for Prosthetics at the Institute of Making in London. She runs material handling sessions with amputees and people living with limb difference using The Materials Library (UCL), to get a better understanding of what they would like to see in the future of prosthetics and how to build a better relationship between them and their prosthetic limb. Caitlin is also a mentor and collaborator for Hands of X: Design Meets Disability. Euan Ogilvie is a Prosthetics and Orthotics student from Strathclyde University.

Our Lunchtime Talks include a range of speakers unearthing little-known stories of Scottish design with international impact. Feel free to bring your lunch, or a coffee from the café.
