Want to work in the fashion industry? Learn new skills and gain unique perspectives to kick start your career.
This summer, join some of Scotland’s coolest designers for a fun, intensive 3-day Fashion Camp. You’ll work with Dundee-based fashion design brand Isolated Heroes and Scottish supermodel, actress and curator Eunice Olumide in this unique workshop, co-designed by V&A Dundee’s Young People’s Collective.
Over the three days, you’ll create your own t-shirt or t-shirt dress to take home. You’ll also learn key skills helping you to effectively present your designs. With a maximum of just ten young people, you’ll work directly with the designers in our Learning Studio and have the chance to ask all the need-to-know questions.
✂️ Days 1 and 2: Design a t-shirt with Isolated Heroes
Hear from Isolated Heroes founder Samantha Paton about her route into the fashion industry, using luxury faux furs and sassy sequins to create empowering and exciting collections for clients including Miley Cyrus, Paloma Faith and Be Charlotte. Learn techniques including design planning, pattern cutting, garment making, machine and hand sewing skills. Using the signature Isolated Heroes pattern, you can also use motifs, surface designs and embellishments to personalise your t-shirt or t-shirt dress.
📸 Day 3: Modelling Masterclass with Eunice Olumide
V&A Dundee Design Champion Eunice Olumide MBE will share her story of working across a wide range of design projects, as an international supermodel, broadcaster and curator. Following the release of her book How to Get into Fashion: A Complete Guide for Models, Creatives and Anyone Interested in the World of Fashion, Eunice will give you a unique insider’s view of the industry. In this modelling masterclass, you’ll hear expert advice on posing, modelling and presentation, with a practical design challenge in the museum.
Materials for all activities will be provided. If you have a camera, tablet or mobile we encourage you to bring this along. There will be regular breaks throughout the day and you can bring a packed lunch or pick something up in the museum.
