‘Are there any jobs going?’ Yes! One of the great joys of being part of the V&A East project has been working towards growing our team, and we have reached that point! As we move towards the opening of V&A East Storehouse in 2025, we are entering our first period of intense recruitment, which will see us working with partner organisations, community hubs and local councils to coach entry level career skills, develop relationships with east London’s vast network of talent and create jobs at all levels. Our recruitment will be behaviour-led, meaning that we will develop an inclusive approach that identifies potential over existing skillsets, foregrounding the importance of training and career development for our employees.

V&A East’s recruitment strategy is locally-rooted. We are guided by the mission of the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLCC), an organisation which seeks to use the opportunity of the London 2012 Games and the creation of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to create an inspiring, innovative and affordable place for people to live, work and visit. By building this mission into our recruitment, we have laid the foundations for a team that speaks to V&A East’s purpose and, along with our partner organisations across the Olympic Park and East Bank, is part of a family of sites that will positively contribute to culture and community in east London, and honour London’s Olympic legacy.

V&A East Careers Day, 2023

So how exactly will we do this? By adopting an inventive, flexible and creative approach that is underpinned by data. As an LLDC organisation, powered by inclusive growth, with community and opportunity at its heart, we will provide at least 50% of V&A East jobs to residents of the four Olympic boroughs (Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Waltham Forest). From November 2024, we will be working with local organisation Good Growth Hub (a place for east Londoners aged 18-30 to access training, advice, networks and paid job opportunities) on their Creative & Cultural Opportunities Programme. We will offer a series of workplace-based information days, core skills workshops including CV writing and speed interviews followed by formal interviews. It is through this process that we will facilitate the largest recruitment exercise; finding, developing and appointing our Front of House team.

V&A East will bring over 70 new permanent roles working across its two new sites – from Front of House to Creative Studio Managers, Collections Access Managers and Volunteer Coordinators – available roles will include part time and flexible working options. We can’t wait to meet you!

Amazing news Phoebe! I was preparing for my final assessment for my PR and Communications apprenticeship in October so didn’t apply to any of your first rollout of jobs. December ’24 I submitted my final assessment and got a distraction! So clearly concentrating on my apprenticeship certification paid off. But now I’m ready to apply for roles in the new year 2025 and in so excited to see a plethora of opportunities being released. I’m so excited, and being a Tower Hamlets resident it means so much to see growth opportunities in our borough for people that adore the creative industries. With a disability it also can be more challenging to secure opportunities so I’m so happy to see this. I’m definitely applying to V&A East you inspire me
