The V&A Collections API launched in 2009 with the development of the award winning Search the Collections website, now providing RESTful access to the V&A collections data of over one million objects and over half a million images.
Following on from the re-developed main V&A website we will also be updating the Collections API, adding new features to a second version and gradually retiring the first version.
If you currently make use of the API, we’d be keen to hear from you about what you use the data for, and what you might like to see in a new version (contact r.palmer@vam.ac.uk)
We’d be particularly keen in hearing from anyone with an interest in using the following tools/methods to access the collections data & images :
- IIIF
- Linked Data
- Bulk exports of the collections dataset
More details to follow later in the year as the new API develops.
