Are you aged 18-26 and passionate about fashion and technology? The V&A invites you to take part in a free Digital Fashion Design Course from February to March 2025.
This opportunity is for young people interested in pursuing a career in fashion or those looking to incorporate digital garments in their creative practice. Sixteen young people will be invited to explore expressions of identity through the creation of digital garments for fashion, theatre, video game or immersive performance.
We are interested in hearing from creatives who push the boundaries of costume, fashion, and design. There are no degree requirements for applying, and we encourage young creatives with or without formal fashion design training to apply.
This course at the V&A will introduce you to new digital technologies to help you envision, investigate, and realise a digital outfit with a focus on sustainable practice and digital innovation.
Over 14 sessions, you will work both online and on-site at the V&A South Kensington, connecting with peers and professionals in an inspiring environment.
The course will include:
– A design challenge inviting participants to develop a character and a realistic digital garment for virtual environment or social media
– 3D digital clothing design technical instruction, including:
– Digital pattern making using computer-aided-design software
– Visualisations of your digital garment for virtual platforms
– Branding and portfolio guidance
– Talks from industry experts and mentoring sessions
At the end of the course, your digital garments will feature in an interactive public showcase at the V&A.
The deadline for applications is 5th January 2025. See how to apply here.
